Never have I traded at a Cape Town market more picturesque than the Craft Art Market on Spier Wine Farm, just outside Stellenbosch.
That is more true than ever this season, with the farm undergoing some exciting landscaping changes, with the view of restoring the seasonal wetlands. Our outdoor space has undergone quite a transformation, and is prettier than ever!
Add to this magical setting a finely curated market boasting a collection of Cape Town's most innovative and talented artisanal makers, and you've got a recipe that will tantalise even the most discerning buyer's taste! Some of the creators also offer a unique "making experience", where visitors can create their own piece to take home.
Every person on duty at the market creates something that is for sale there. So you get to meet the actual makers. Rest assured - it is all authentically hand-crafted with care and love by the most wonderfully warm people!
Visit us and make a day of it -- have a picnic, enjoy wine tasting with a spectacular view, purchase some home-grown delicacies at the Farm Kitchen, be daring and go on a Segway tour or have a delicious meal at Vadas Smokehouse and Bakery. And for my fellow birders, the farm will not disappoint! Apart from the fabulous Eagle Encounters - a wildlife centre that specialises in the care, rehabilitation and release of birds of prey - the farm is home to a large variety of birdlife, including various cuckoos, water fowl, kingfishers and even the majestic Fish Eagle, to name but a few.
